Welcome to Barn Close

Barn Close is a lovely 1920s house set in 2 acres of gardens on the edge of Beetham Village. Lying to the south of Kendal and convenient for the M6 Motorway, this is an ideal location for guests who wish to visit the popular areas of the Lake District by day but seek rural tranquility during the evening. Set in a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB), Beetham is just off the A6 and surrounded by farmland and wooded hills. For overseas visitors, the village is only just over one hours drive from Manchester Airport.
The Wheatsheaf pub, a short stroll from Barn Close, provides excellent food. For such a small village to also boast a Norman Church, a Theatre and Garden Centre is certainly unusual. The Village Post Office and Stores add to the community feeling that pervades.

Barn Close has featured for many years in the popular guide, Alastair Sawday's Special Places to Stay for Garden Lovers. Anne is a keen gardener willingly sharing her enthusiasm and is more than happy to help with itineraries and visits as there are many excellent gardens in Cumbria. Mike is an experienced birder in the UK and in addition to welcoming Bed and Breakfast guests, they also offer short guided bird watching breaks through North West Birds.
They are both keen naturalists and have travelled extensively in Africa, the Americas and Asia.
