About Us

Mike RobinsonNorth West Birds is an informal enterprise based on a large family house, Barn Close, in 1.75 acres of garden in a lovely spot on the edge of the village of Beetham, surrounded by fields and just above the River Bela (Dipper, Grey Wagtail, Goosander).

I should say something about us. This is a small business run by my wife, Annie, and myself. We have two children and the whole family are interested in birds. For myself, I have been keen all my life and birding seriously for the last 15 years. Most has been in the UK, but we have also done many trips to Africa, India and the USA.

Being released early from a business career enabled me to move full time to birding - a most welcome change! We have a lovely, comfortable house with a large garden, a river only 100 yards away and woods opposite (Buzzard). We will give you a warm welcome in our home and will do everything we can to give you a really enjoyable, relaxed break - with lots of birds! Informality is the watchword.

For winter evenings, we have plenty of bird books, videos and a computer on which we keep the log each evening, along with the amazing DVD ROM of European Birds. I am sure we will have plenty to discuss. In the summer, we will use the daylight hours as best we can. Either way, we can be as flexible as anyone wants. Garden list stands at 83 - North West at 331. There is £5 for anyone who adds to the former!
